    Reworking the University: Visions, Strategies, Demands

(April 24, 2009 - April 26, 2009)

We seek to create a space for collective re-evaluation of the university in crisis as an opportunity for real transformation. "Reworking the University" seeks to draw together academics, artists, and activists, to share and produce political visions, strategies and demands for building an alternative university in common.

    Extending Democracy w/The Progressive, Manski, Farsetta, Gray, Wellstone

(May 1, 2009 - May 2, 2009)

Major speakers include Robert Redford, Amy Goodman, Naomi Klein, Barbara Ehrenreich, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and the editorial staff of the Progressive Magazine. Liberty Tree's Ben Manski, together with various members of Liberty Tree's Board of Directors and Board of Advisors -- John Nichols and Robert McChesney, among them -- will also be speaking at this exciting event.

    NOVEMBER: Global Week of Action - Reloaded!

 Public education systems, from kindergarten to university, must prioritize emancipating aspects, be free and accessible to all. A democracy only exists, if society consists of emancipated and self-determined individuals, that are able to critically reflect their society, developments and power structures. Any system that doesn’t fulfill these criteria is not a democracy.
