Winning Democracy with Ben Manski

Date:

May 3, 2010 8:00pm

Location:

Dreyfus University Center, UW-Stevens Point, 1015 Reserve Street

Full Description:

Sponsored by Students for a Democratic Society

Can we pursue sustainability and social justice when corporations are allowed to control so much power and wealth?

Ben Manski raises critical challenges facing our democracy. Better yet, he offers practical ways to solve them. Join him in learning more about the growing democracy movement in the United States, and the critical role students, educators, and local community activists are playing in that movement.

Find out more about the campaign to overrule the Supreme Court's doctrine of "corporate personhood" and learn about the new wave of protests for education rights, voting rights, local democracy, a democratized defense, and much more.

“Ben Manski has intriguing and provocative ideas, which will arouse spirited discussion in any audience.” ~ Howard Zinn

Ben Manski is an attorney and pro-democracy advocate, and the executive director of the Liberty Tree Foundation, a think-tank and organizing center he founded in 2004. He serves on the executive committee of MovetoAmend.org, as well as principal attorney at Manski Law & Communications, LLC, and an associate fellow with the Institute for Policy Studies.

“One of the more thoughtful and devoted organizers the fledgling movement for democracy has. If we had just 100 Manskis, the corporate elite would be quaking and foaming at the mouth in fear.”
~ Charlie Cray, Director, Center for Corporate Policy
